Number of Participants

The maximum numbers for our water activity session are dependent on the size of buoyancy aids that we have. We can currently take a maximum of 40 Scouts, 30 Cubs, or 20 Beavers per session.

  • Water activity sessions can be booked from the beginning of May through to the end of September.
  • Due to an ever increasing demand for these popular Water Activity Sessions we only have a limited number of 2 hour sessions available for booking. A two hour weekend session is from 1000 – 1200 noon or from 1300 – 1500 and an evening session is from 1830 – 2030.
  • Evening sessions are offered Wednesday to Friday only. We prefer same age-group bookings where possible.
  • The Water Activities we offer on these sessions are aimed at Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts. Beaver and Parent activities will be advertised separately.
  • Wharfedale District Scouts bookings take priority and can be made from 1st January.
  • Bookings from outside the Wharfedale Scouts District can be made from 1st February onwards (spaces permitting).
  • West Yorkshire North Guides have separately arranged two full days of water activities which should be booked via the Guide County Office. We would appreciate Guide Leaders contacting their County or District Water Activities Advisor in the first instance regarding water activities.

Situation Vacant
Job Title: Bosun
Reva Scouts Water Activity Centre is looking for a volunteer to take on the role of centre Bosun. The Bosun will be responsible for the maintenance of our fleet of sailing dinghies, canoes, kayaks, bellboats and power boats.
The Bosun will work closely with the Centre Manager and Lead Instructors to ensure we have fully operational equipment throughout our operating season.
This is a year round role, but the busiest period will be April to October, when we offer activity sessions every day of the week to Scout and Guide groups.
Duties include:
  • Inventory of all kit and equipment at the beginning and end of the season.
  • Maintenance and repairs of all sailing, canoeing, kayaking and bellboating equipment and craft.
  • Maintenance of powered tools, such as Lawnmowers.
  • Basic maintenance of the Landrover.
  • Organise outboard engine services with NESW Marine.
  • Oversee/complete checklists for power boats and safety boat boxes.
  • Manage a fault book.
  • Report to the Reva Scouts Water Activity Centre Committee at our monthly evening meeting.
  • Work with the treasurer to order spares.
  • Assist with tasks towards the yearly RYA inspection.
  • Help to keep the bosuns shed tidy.

Please note, you do not need a Scout permit to volunteer for this role but due to Reva being a Scout centre, you will need to apply for a DBS check through the Scout association and undertake the Safety and Safeguarding E-Learning.

A background in fettling would be an advantage.

This role would suit a shift worker, part time worker or retiree who can volunteer a few days/evenings a week to work alongside the centre committee.

Hours spent doing the above can be out of hours when the centre isn’t being used by groups.

If you are interested in the above role, please contact the centre manager, James Adams on sasm@revascouts.org.uk or Lisa Nutton on booking@revascouts.org.uk
