Torch Race 2026

This iconic race, an important piece of our Scouting Heritage in Wharfedale, will be held
on Friday 9th May 2026.

If it is necessary to postpone the event it will be held on the following Friday.

Some important notes from Iain Paterson – Lionhearts Lead Volunteer

  • Last year we requested an emergency contact number for each team, prior to the race.
We only received a number from one team. This is not good enough!
Please ensure that an emergency contact number is sent to lionheartslead@wharfedalescouts.org.uk
  • Please note that batons must comply with the Rules of the Race. A piece of cane is not acceptable (and dangerous to other runners).
  • Last year’s Scout race winner is responsible for providing and erecting the flag pole on Surprise View.
(The winner of the 2025 race was First Ben Rhydding)
  • We can all look forward to a great event.
  • If you have any questions, email: lionheartslead@wharfedalescouts.org.uk
